Kenny is dead forever :( He's booking with Tony in heaven now.

Conspicuous by his absence is Hangman. I'm amazed he didn't appear at all last night, with Kenny even saying that he was the last EVP with some authority to override the Bucks.

My opinion on Swerve vs. Christian hasn't changed: give it to me. This is going to rock. The continuity being acknowledged was fantastic. They should probably drop a throwaway line about how Swerve's line to Brian Cage and Nana from a few weeks ago about not interfering still applies or something just to stop people from asking why Swerve is getting killed by Christian's Son Shithead but the Swerve/Nick Wayne rematch is gonna be delicious. An emotional face vs. heel story with teeth and continuity was absolutely the way to go. What I especially liked was that they made Christian being named number one contender a Bucks decision, which gives Swerve easy odds to struggle against as the face champion against the evil bosses - especially with Hangman in the wings possibly aligning with the Elite...

I didn't dislike the Copeland/Buddy match, but I was disappointed at how the match was laid out just because I know Buddy Matthews can do better. The Cope Suicida was absolutely great though. I'm not tired of the House of Black's "lore" and think the black mist possibly corrupting Cope is a fun way to give him a new twist, but it'd be fun to just see him become a bloody angry man like what happened to PAC. Either way, we'll definitely get that Malakai/Cope match because that's what Adam's been saying he's wanted since his first scrum. Jobitis or not, it should still be fun.

Lots of interesting twists were teased last night - Callis leaving with Orange and not Trent is STRANGE, but at the same time, if that's what Trent whispered to Stat, that Orange was planning on joining the Family...much to think about. There aren't a ton of main event level heels right now but I don't think turning Orange would fix that. There's a twist coming for sure.

Chris Jericho's theme was still hilarious and I think every wrestling show needs a goofy hardcore match. Also Big Bill rocks. I'm down with this.

I'm definitely not built for three hour televised shows. I really hope they don't switch to them permanently, especially not on a Wednesday. They're fine on Saturday I guess, and PPVs and special events I can choose when to watch are fine too. Two hours is a perfect sweet spot to pick me up mid-week, but I got pretty tired by the end. :( It may be better when I'm back to watching in my own house.

Finally, the new X-Men '97 was so good :stare: How does this show exist and how is it so high quality wtf

I don't think this was ever a possibility, it's just playoffs basketball season so shows are getting bumped.

Oh, side note: between the Jericho/Shibata match this week and the Casino Gauntlet last week I hope this continues a trend of "you are not going to see stuff like this on TV anywhere else". Right now their TV product is a big focus, but I do think that was an easily-appealing thing about AEW, the unique styles showcased in every match. Party matches are important! So having a style that stands out from the rest of the card in a fun place on the card keeps it memorable.

Also, bring back the Texas Chainsaw Massacre Championship.

I guess we'll see where it goes but its funny to me that we are apparently doing the Cena/Bray "yes, hit him with a chair, thus surrendering to the Darkness In Your Heart" with a famously career heel who's signature spot since buddy matthews was two years old is hitting people with chairs in an especially violent way

I see Daniel Garcia coming in as the guy to go against Jack Perry. Unless, somehow, MJF makes a miraculous recovery.

When is Cash Wheeler's trial? I was half expecting the Elite to take FTR out last night, too, in order to give them time off to accommodate that.

Yeah, Copeland with the chair wasn't a big "oh poo poo" moment, but I did like his reaction to Kyle O'Reilly looking at the TNT title.

I'm much more into "Copeland having a title is going to drive him crazy" than "Copeland is getting crazy violent (but bad now)"

I think the anti-Elite group should be made of people who were "made" by AEW to some extent. A few names that come to mind...

Kenny Omega (RIP)

Swerve Strickland (if not involved in Blood & Guts/Anarchy in the Arena, should at least be a major player in the angle)

Darby Allin (if he's healed - he and Jack have history)
Eddie Kingston
Jon Moxley (depending on his Japan dates)
Mark Briscoe
Daniel Garcia
Orange Cassidy (depending on what's happening with Callis)
Top Flight & Action Andretti

I don't want to say Ospreay yet despite him being a massively-over face because I think he should do his own thing for a bit but he's an easy one as well. I think the idea of the angle may be redefining the "Elite" in "All Elite" to not just mean the stable but also that the roster is "Elite" level - Where The Best Wrestle etc etc

This is exactly how I read it. It's not the wrath that's being teased out of him, it's the covetousness.

Blood and Guts:

Nicholas Jackson
Matthew Jackson
Okada
Jack Perry
Hangman

vs

Swerve
Penta
Rey Fenix
Daniel Garcia
Kenny Omega

Swap Kenny out for PAC or Mox depending on injuries and I think you've got the makings for an all-time great match. And that's going off the assumption Hangman remains a heel. If he's a face, this whole thing totally changes. Maybe have the Elite align with Christian instead.

As a ratings lover, I was super into the idea of Christian as the next challenger, but they sold it well as being an Elite decision and then bringing up the past.
It makes sense to get a challenge heated up in less than a month.

Didn't I kill him with a HELICOPTER?
After this week, I think I can be okay with rampage merging with collision but not Dynamite, and I'd rather not do a 3 hour show every week at all if possible. I was fading pretty bad for Jay/Dante and Rocky/Kylo, took the hardcore Willow/Skye to wake me up again. Didn't even notice we didn't get a promised match until someone pointed it out in the thread.

First time watching AEW in person and I'll probably never get floor seats again unless I can get in the 2nd or maybe 3rd row - 1st would be expensive. Having someone who's like 6'10 standing up for every entrance (which is fine) and every pop (which is fine) but not being able to see poo poo kinda makes you regret buying. We moved up behind the cameras which offered a much better view - right behind the ring crew too. But it lacks the energy of the crowd up there. One guy beside us was starting all the chants too and screaming everything he could to see if it would get a rise. Pretty good crowd though - some people on reddit said it sounded like poo poo and we were dull but it was loving loud in there. Reminded me of Jets games.

After the show was done Adam Copeland, Orange Cassidy, Willow, Kris Statlander and Stokely Hathaway came out to talk for a bit. Adam and OC did a big handshake and then went around saying hi to fans at the edge there.

Floor seats in theory are great but they never work our for me, either. I've been stuck behind a really tall guy, people who got up every 5 minutes to get food and use the bathroom, and a woman who puked her guts out in front of her tiny kids.

All respect to Lyric (she was awesome on the episode of One Nation Radio I listened to) but I'm not sure where the Cope/Christian team is factoring into this. Christian is still doing his Patriarchy gimmick and despite the teases it feels like that would be too soon for Cope to go heel in that particular manner. Maybe I'm wrong...

Everything else I'm completely on board with. This might mean that All Out is main evented by the TNT Championship, then? Or maybe a big multiman like Anarchy in the Arena? I'm not sure. This is a money card overall though.

Ospreay/Takeshita 2 would be pretty excellent.

I think it's a pretty easy transition from Cope/Swerve to The Elite beating down Copeland for failing to beat Swerve and Cope making the save.

Oh yeah, when Shibata and Jericho were sitting and wacking away with the sticks a piece went rocketing into the audience right beside me. Probably could have taken someones eye out with that. Was nuts. That was my highlight of the night tho - Jericho was beat to poo poo and Shibata stood like a rock.
