Pongo was off-leash once and found a deer, he eventually came back. After talking with the people that manage the park and learning about the deer habits in the area, Pongo probably chased it for nearly a mile. We only go off-leash now in fields where it’s a controlled environment for fetch.

i used to let my girl off lead a lot when we lived in the north where there are no trees or livestock and few people. she did chase a reindeer into the sea once but reindeer can swim and it was ok now we live near farms and there are forests and other dog walkers she can't really be off lead very much. too likely that she'd vanish into the woods and i really don't want her to come back covered in sheep blood

the town bought a property near the downtown area to use as a park a couple of years ago and haven’t developed it yet. The back 3/4 is a huge prairie grass area, I hope they just put some grass paths through it all and call it good.

Ran across an escaped dog on our afternoon walk in a nearby park. I tied Pongo to a tree but the other dog wouldn’t let me get close to check for a # on the collar. It eventually wandered back into the neighborhood next to the park so I hope he find his home.

eggy surprised me by picking me up from a doctor's appointment on wednesday. he was very happy to see me get in the car  (yes those are normal sized zippers. he has a real tiny head)

also if you're wondering why you don't get to see the right side of his face often anymore, i try to hide it for him lol he has a wound there from smacking into a tree branch about 3 years ago. it never healed and several vets have had no idea why, but he's perfectly healthy (although he absolutely will not allow us to put any sort of ointment on it, and as you can see has a remarkable amount of teeth for 13 year old dog, so lol) it hasn't ever gotten any bigger, but it does eventually collect a lot of crap on it as it scabs over and that looks real bad imo. then the scab falls off, his face looks mostly fine (it's not a big wound), then the whole process repeats itself. he's at a "ugh that looks pretty gross" point in that cycle right now e: of course i could edit it out, and sometimes do, but meh now y'all know lol Beeftweeter fucked around with this message at 16:25 on May 5, 2024 |
