Got the thawed puree out of the walk-in today and got a bunch of cold water all over my front making sure it was secure from the bottom. That's brisk! Should have seen that one coming. Lol. At least I got it all moved into the brewery before the dining room got filled up.

I have now sat through 20+ hours of corporate GIS "training" videos that have taught me zero practical information. They're all trying to sell me on the concept of GIS, but I want to learn how to actually use the drat software. It's like looking at the poster of what to do if someone is choking, but the poster just lists all the benefits of breathing. At least I'm doing this on company time. |

The two week notice thing is a pretty American thing AFAIK. Other countries have legally enforceable resignation notice periods and the like, the flip side being you can't be terminated for no reason.

Ok now I know this is a somewhat risky topic in a somewhat risky thread and pessimism and being mad about a job is not uncommon here, please try to focus on rather being supportive rather than destructive and remember that being kind and helpful to one another is a lot more fruitful than, intentionally or not, dragging people down along with you. AP, I know what you mean and I understand the pain you express there, but it's not helpful or a good place for this. Work crew can be a downer, but it doesn't have to be and you don't have to provoke it either, please. I think EFN did the right thing with closing this for now, I'm gonna keep it that way for a day or two longer and then we'll see if we can reopen and just chat about work stuff in a more chill way, if possible.

I'm going to put this in the OP but from now on please think before you post. I get that this is a thread for venting and letting off steam but I'd like to ask posters ITT refrain from going into a pit of despair, especially when replying to others. If someone is struggling in their work situation saying it's all meaningless because we're all gonna die anyways, for instance, isn't really going to help anyone and, can actually make that person feel worse. Also, maybe keep the drunk posting to Trashed Crew. I'm not a mod or anything so there's not much I can do other then make this request. Thanks.

I entirely agree to that! Work can be annoying, but this thread doesn't have to be! You're entirely free to vent, but let's not tear the entire world apart over something as unimportant as a bad job! There's more important stuff anyways, like, posting! With your friends!

I don't often post ITT because the OP is often pissed off. it's rant city up in here and that's an unchill topic for me. I've had plenty of miserable jobs but I've got a good one now and that rarely seems appropriate in here. I feel I'd make my posting pals jelly or something if that ilk

We're almost out of beer and I can't even brew until next week because nobody bothered to sit down for a production meeting until the Friday before a major break called Golden Week so I didn't get deliveries here until today. Even after 3 years I don't think the management really understands planning ahead. Beer takes at least 3 weeks. Jesus. On top of that ordering to deliver for materials can take a week or more. Looks like the place in Kyoto is hiring me. So there's that!

Dear lord this place is just utterly incapable of planning ahead AT ALL! I say we should probably make beers in preparation for Golden Week. Even if it's not ready during the actual holidays, to replenish stocks afterwards. I have a Golden Strong that's been ready for a while but was told to hold off until right before the event. I was gonna keg it Wednesday to help with replenishing stocks but now I don't have enough kegs so it may have to wait anyways. Other than that I have the POG sour to keg next week. But after that I won't have any new beers to keg until the third week in June. There's a big beer event next weekend that I prepared for well ahead of time basically on my own. Every year I'm the only one who ever bothers to consider what we should have ready for the event. I made the prickly pear golden strong back in December in preparation for this event, for instance. We should have enough for that. I'm then informed out of nowhere that the former restaurant manager needs a beer to sell to some place for an event or whatever. Okay. I don't know that we have enough. Then I'm told by the former restaurant manager that there's another beer event middle of next month they want me to attend. Okay but where's the beer for this? They've paused production since around the end of last month so I've been doing nothing. I tried to get them to put something in the empty tanks but...that plus nobody would have a production meeting with me until the Friday evening before Golden Week, so my orders are coming in late. We're three years in and they still don't seem to understand that beer takes 3 weeks at least from brew day to packaging, and they don't seem to understand the time it takes to line up materials. It's wild. Despite being transferred to another restaurant that manager is like ingrained in the beer sales part of things despite being absolutely terrible at it. He's got these random events he needs beer for but won't mention until right before. And it's supposed to be my problem? Lol. New employment contract for that place in Kyoto can't get here quick enough.
