used to be that you could skip the cutscenes in castrum meridianum and the praetorium so new players never got to watch them if they wanted to actually do the dungeon content, as people just rushed through. they changed it so the in-dungeon cutscenes can't be skipped anymore, then they drastically revamped the content so they're 4-man dungeons instead of 8-man dungeons, reduced the cutscene length and overall shortened the dungeon lengths. they also moved the ending "boss rush" from the praetorium into one in-dungeon boss fight, one 4-man trial, and one solo duty.

Thinking back, that descent to ganon is so incredible. They killed it with the atmosphere and the music getting more and more claustrophobic and anxiety inducing was such an amazing experience. Like the music actually gave me anxiety.

Also helps that the ganon fight was fun as hell too

:yeah: after botw i was really expecting kind of a wet-fart finale again but they knocked it out of the park this time, from final dungeon entrance to credits roll

i enjoy when games arse about with their own rules so i got a real kick out of phase 2 'dorf's health bar, and his ability to "permanently" destroy your max health instead of just glooming it

Hell yeah, also Ganon doing a lot of your own sword moves against you was a pretty big holy poo poo moment for me

when i played botw, i rocked in to the final boss with an inventory full of weapons from the hardest lionels, the best armor, tons of arrows, and stacks of the best foods

then i glided into the tower from one of the outside pylons, skipping like 90% of the tower.

he never stood a chance. he fell like a chump.

I found the ending of TOTK kinda anticlimactic. I think though that at that point I had pushed past burnout trying to do as much as possible. I have this problem with most open world games... the middle 2/3rds is awesome, but the beginnings are lame and the endings are typically wet farts.

what jonny is referring to is a popup warning you get that "multiple cutscenes will play in sequence." the first time that happens precedes i think like 45 minutes of cutscenes (that are genuinely really good). after that when the popup shows up it's never for anything that long, more like 15 minutes or so.

e: you've still got a ways to go before that. it's at the end of the post-ARR lead-up to Heavensward

fair warning the early ARR patches are quite slow, it's probably the worst stretch of the entire msq. once you start interacting with lady iceheart it'll get a lot better, and it's all uphill from there

that is when i mused that i would pay $1.99 for a post patch content skip for one expansion. it drags so bad.
