I remember really getting a kick out of how you could taser people until they caught fire, or throw them in front of oncoming subway trains.

I feel like every time Syphon Filter shows up people will always rave about setting people on fire with a taser. And I can’t think of a single other game that allows you to do that. Feels like it would be right at home in a Farcry.

A tangled skein of bad opinions, the hottest takes, and the the world's most misinformed nonsense. Do not engage with me, it's useless, and better yet, put me on ignore.
In Far Cry 5, you were allowed to be either a male or female. For the most part, the only difference was, if you were playing female the subtitles would change "him" to "'em " and really half-assed things like that. In New Dawn, the sequel-spinoff from Far Cry 5, they refer to the character as "they/them." The reason mechanically is probably just because there isn't a canonical gender for that character (or a name) but it also stands out because they are the only character in this world who uses non-binary pronouns. It stands out, in a world where everyone is he or she, and then one character uses nonbinary pronouns, kinda like they did if you played female (if you played male, the voiced lines didn't change but sometimes the subtitles did) I don't think this counts as representation, though.

Actual content: The camp system in Baldur's Gate 3 is pretty wack for several reasons. At first I held off as much as possible because I might run out of camp supplies later down the road and some quests might progress in a way I do not want after a long rest and what results was me resting like maybe 3 times in act 1 and twice in act 2.

Now I've restarted and know that supplies are not really a problem and I kinda have an idea on quest progression on rests. Kinda. Sorta. There isn't a cut and dry "if you have this quest active or you go to this area doing a long rest will do this" list, just a "oh it'll be obvious". Anyways, that isn't the issue I'm having here. The problem is there is a bunch of companion dialogue and events and stuff that only happens if you do a long rest, which kinda sucks cause sometimes I can go awhile without needing a long rest and I'll just miss things. Apparently if you're playing Dark Urge there is a scene that requires you to do a long rest as soon as you get out of the tutorial. This sucks.

I liked getting the ending where you just say "gently caress it" and leave mid-game on the escape shuttle (probably not mid-game, but still a good chunk of game left).

I got that ending, and completely missed it's significance, because I was so hung up on the slightly more obvious twist of you secretly being a typhon

Which is another cool trick - distract the player with an obvious twist, so they miss the one behind that

The Gongaga area in FF7 Rebirth is legit terrible. It has way too much verticality in a game that doesn't let you point your camera straight up. Platforming with mushrooms is a gamble every time. Are you going to jump five feet to the platform right in front of you that you want to get or fifty feet past it? There's nothing to let you know, so hopefully you can remember how to get back if you go flying past it. It also has a really annoying and repetitive theme. Which is odd, because the game has been nothing but bangers so far. Totally get why Zack left, at least.

And is Chadley the main character in this game? I swear he has more dialogue than the rest of the cast combined. I want that little weirdo to lose my number. I can't even look at cool rock without him calling me about it. Maybe Square knows that Sephiroth is not a threatening villain anymore. Everyone's beaten him so many times across so many games, so they're building up Chadley to be the real final boss. And it's really working for me. I really want to fight that guy

A byproduct of playing Persona 3 Reload too efficiently is that theres not much to do in the last 30% of the game. There are no major bosses until the last day, most of your social links are maxed, as are all your social stats. The world might be ending but you can only waste a lot of time just bumming around.

Dead Rising 3 is that way. When it released folks were upset that the "72 Hour Mode" timer isn't real and only progresses after story missions, so the devs added a "Nightmare Mode" that restores the passage of time. But it's still way slow, so you end up milling about chewing up zombies with your flaming steamroller until a mission shows up.

The funny thing is I have that issue for most of Dead Rising 1 and all of 2, but here's the deal, that's because I know where to go at all times so I naturally became highly efficient, 3 toning it down and 4 removing it killed the entire point of the series.

I don't care if it stressed people out, that's WHY it was good, it forced you to move your rear end and if you messed up then that's ok, you can just try again.

I feel bad about it, but I couldn't stand the one of those that turns into a rhythm game. It's creative and it looks cool, you can tell the devs put effort into, but I just can't stand that genre and was waiting for it to end five seconds in.

The Eldin region of Skyward Sword is uninspired. All it has going for is fire, with only a vague sub-theme of combat gimmicks (stealth and escort quests). The other two areas are forest and water; and desert and high-tech. The two dungeons in the region are also really similar.

Idk man. My experience with him is making me run annoying obstacle courses, rescue a bunch of people in an area with a terrible camera and a timer, and swinging to the statue of Liberty on platforms that are just far and high enough that you can miss them if you time it wrong and have to do the whole drat thing again.
