Lyra Chalcis Lyra sighed heavily, and banged her head against the bulkhead a few times as if hoping that a nice concussion would wake her up from this nightmare. The Force failed to comply. Thus stuck with this reality, she turned to Ja, "So much for the milk run. Devil, you're going to have to take the lead on this one. These kids are techies, not shooters. I've got your back, and I'll patch your cute butt up if they try and blast it off, but I've been in this game long enough to know this kind of boarding action needs an expert in charge, and that means you."

Ja Denaik "Now THIS is what I'm paid for. No worries, Doc. I'll leave enough of this butt for you to work with." Ja exits the turret, checking her pistols as she retrieves her helmet, putting it on to fully become the Scarlet Devil. "Alright, folks. I'm a trained professional. Do NOT try this at home. You just stay a few parsecs back and let me take care of business."

Lt. Senn Koh She puts on her officer voice, and opens up wide-channel comms again, "Gozanti-class cruiser. Proceed with docking your craft." Senn looks at one of the pilots, and motions to the Nav Computer, shrugging. Pick one! Continuing transmission, "For verification and safety, prepare for boarding procedure so that we may escort you to," she glances at the screen. That one. "...Teskar Mining Facility for rendezvous." Small outpost with no real garrison, should reassure the Grievers that they wouldn't all be clapped in shackles upon docking. Senn closes channels and looks to Davin, putting on her mask of cheerful politeness, "See, just a routine traffic stop along the Perlemian Trade route, my lord."

Kit Cawkren Kit breathes out slowly. She's not sure she likes letting the fighters dock, but it reduces the risk of one of them making a suicide rush to allow the others to escape. "Alright Hiram, take us in nice and steady. I'll go and see if any of our passengers are up to playing marine." She slides back down the ladder and walks into the cargo compartment. Seeing that Denaik is already suited up Kit nods at her and opens up the secure locker holding her carbine, checking it's energy cell is charged and ready. Then she turns to the salvage team, all strapped in and mostly looking unhappy to be passengers on a shuttle in combat, even if that combat is over for the moment. Kit clears her throat and pitches her voice to what her regular crew call the 'drill sergeant special'. "Listen up! I need volunteers to help the me and Scarlet Devil here sweep and clear a little ship full of (she manages to avoid saying 'rebel scum') pirates who don't seem to know the war is over. Anyone with security, demolitions, or zero-g experience, congratulations on volunteering." She knows from the passenger manifest that less than a third of the team meet any of her criteria, and as she points out the ones she needs they stand and shuffle around reluctantly. "Good. Draw your sidearms, breathers, and blast vests from the storage lockers. Specialist Denaik will take point when we board, follow her directions and you'll be just fine." spending a Hero Point to activate Leadership, creating a strength 10 Brute Squad of the more motivated technicians

"Preparing to receive boarders," comes the voice with a sigh, "and calculating the route to Teskar." It's the Gozanti's turn to maneuver with exaggerated deliberation as it turns to point along the vector toward Teskar. The approaching TIEs alter their paths to match it before rising to mate with the larger ship's docking clamps.

Lyra Chalcis Lyra already had her blaster out and was taking cover on one side of the hatch by the time Kit came down to assemble the boarding party. She simply nodded when Kit called for volunteers and waited to see how many people were going to die this time. As ever, her blaster was set to stun. She didn't kill if there were other options. That said, it didn't matter too much. She'd only be firing until someone on her side got hit, then she'd have more important things to do. The medic tracked the Red Devil with her gaze, waiting for the sign that the party was starting. jng2058 fucked around with this message at 06:52 on Nov 15, 2019 |

As the Sentinel draws closer to the Gozanti, all four docking clamps suddenly release their TIEs, which each accelerate hard in a separate direction toward deep space. It appears they're trying... something. Another Action Sequence. I need Approaches from Kit and Tol. If they wish, Senn and Davin may also submit Approaches as the pilot & copilot of their shuttle

Kit Cawkren Hiram calls down into the cargo bay, alerting Kit to the sudden action from the enemy fighters. She isn't surprised, exactly. Desperate people do desperate things, it was one of the core strengths of the Rebellion. Picking which desperate strategy is going to be key to the response - is this a suicide rush, a distraction, or do the pilots know something she doesn't about the cruiser? Approach will be Wits + Warfare, to anticipate the enemies next move.

Lt. Senn Koh She rolls her eyes as the docking clamps spark and release, looking to Davin, "Just as you said, my lord." Putting her hand back to rest on the pilot's headrest, "Fire upon the Gozanti - the TIEs will be back shortly, we'll not chase them down in this shuttle - leave them to the others. I want that vessel dead in space, at the very least." Senn's face is calm, but one can be sure she is bristling with irritability. Will use the Pilot's pool to fire on the Gozanti, using raises toward hitting a critical system - sublight engines, life support, something.

Kit Cawkren The communications network has a moment of frantic activity as everyone attempts to act at once. Kit manages to parse out a few vital pieces of information the sensor net amid the hubbub - the TIE fighters aren't taking any evasive action and there's no life signs aboard them, and the Gozanti cruiser is targeting the bomber that contains the gravity mine with it's dorsal laser cannons. It's enough for her to make an intuitive leap - destroy the source of the grav field, and the cruiser can make the jump to lightspeed. It would be easy enough to let them run...but Kit just can't bring herself to do it. She overrides the other ships transmissions and gives orders in a calm but authoritative voice. "Lambda, target that dorsal cannon with all forward firepower. Gamma, the TIE's are a distraction. Stay tight, cover our approach. She releases the override and turns to talk to her impromptu boarding squad. "We're only going to have two minutes from entry to take either the engine room or the cockpit. Get ready." Kit Cawkren (thatbastardken) Rolls Wits + Warfare: [1] Result: 2 [2] Result: 3 [9] Result: 10 [6] Result: 7 [6] Result: 7 [10] Result: 11 Reroll Kit Cawkren (thatbastardken) Roll: [8] Result: 9 4 raises: 2 spent on information, 1 spent to assist the Lambda pilot and one spent to assist Tol Vrei

Lt. Senn Koh "Kus." Senn curses in her native tongue. So that's the plan. Not a bad one, given their options. "You heard her, take out that cannon." She opens up comms to the Sentinel, annoyance in her voice, "You won't have much time. If that cruiser leaves with you on it, I'm not coming looking for you, you know that, right?" Her thumbnail scratches at her belt - irritable that she's not on that boarding party. She watches the shuttle crew train their fire on the Gozanti and pouts. For Senn's part, her action is the pilot's die of the Lambda taking out the dorsal cannon on the Gozanti, with two raises.

Gamma Squadron Gamma-1 to Sentinel-Actual, Understood, Squadron will hold fire. Tol Vrei Tol mutters something not picked up by his mike, and his fighter accelerates, arcing towards the bomber. If he could fly close enough to the bomber, the navcomputer might abort it's scheduled course to avoid a collision. Keeping the grav mine close to the Gozanti was now the goal. Hopefully, he could pull this off.

Lyra Chalcis Lyra listened to Captain Cawkren's orders and thought for a few moments, then said to Ja, "Looks like we'll have to do this on the run, Devil. What do you think, cockpit? Unless you know what to blast in the engine room to disable the hyperdrive, that is."

Lyra Chalcis Lyra nodded, "That's what I was figuring too." She holstered her blaster and pulled a stun grenade from beneath her coat. "No time to do this quiet, so might as well go extra loud. Soon as we pop the hatch, I'll toss this at whomever's on the other side, then you do what you do and the rest of us will follow in your wake. Sound good?"

Tol's Z95 leaps forward, its inertial compensator redlining as he pushes the craft to the utmost limits of its acceleration to catch up with the grav-generating TIE Bomber. At the same time, the Lambda fires its wing guns, the green lasers punching through the Gozanti's shield to destroy the larger ship's dorsal turret in a burst of flame and debris. The Gozanti's ventral turret tries to shoot down the TIE Bomber instead, but its blast goes wide, not being calibrated for such small and speedy targets and its accuracy degraded by the presence of the Z95 steadily gaining on the fleeing bomber. Moments later, a dull thunk echoes through the Sentinel as its docking port mates with the Gozanti's, and Tol finally edges far enough ahead of the empty, fleeing TIE Bomber that he can swerve in front of it, forcing it to break off its headlong charge in order to prevent a collision. New round, new Approaches - I definitely need them from Tol and everyone aboard the Sentinel. If Senn and Davin have clever ideas for how they can contribute, they are welcome to join in as well.

Tol Vrei Tol loops his Z95 in what looks like an erratic orbit of the bomber, until several cycles have occurred, and the pattern emerges, Tol is acting as a sheepdog for the bomber corralling it to be near the Gozanti.

Lt. Senn Koh She stands with her boots together, trying to remain composed as she watches the Sentinel make contact with the Gozanti. Finally, she gestures irritably, “Can’t we do anything useful? Lyra Chalcis Looking back at the armed engineers, Lyra smiled at them with more confidence than she really felt, "Live free or die trying! It's just that easy!" So saying, she focused her attention on the hatch, waiting for the light to go from red to green.

Tol's maneuver works even better than anticipated, completely turning the autopiloted TIE Bomber around to head back the way it came. Aboard the Sentinel, Ja hammers the hatch release with her gauntleted fist as soon as the light goes green to indicate a good seal; as it hisses open, a hail of blasterbolts come through, but Lyra ducks through the fire to toss her stun grenade into the midst of the crowd of enemies, where it releases its payload of energy with a burst of light and sound that's almost musical as it falls in pitch. Close on the grenade's heels, Ja Denaik charges through, blasters firing as quickly as her fingers can pull the triggers. Most of her shots find no target other than the walls of the corridor backing the Gozanti's airlock, but some find actual enemies, and all those still on their feet drop to the deck as she storms through. One, however, has actually escaped injury despite the blasterbolts flying back and forth, and starts to push themselves back up onto their feet to return fire at the Mandalorian one-woman army - only to stop in midmotion as Kit levels her blaster pistol and demands their (personal) surrender.

Lt. Senn Koh Senn has nothing much better to do than watch the scanners - the short-range scanners on the Gozanti, and the long-range directed to the other ships. Watching the TIE bomber's course change on the scanner, she murmurs, to herself or the rest of the Lambda's occupants, "Oh, that's wonderfully clever - a little surprised it worked." She makes a point to remember that one. Opening comms to the boarding crew, Senn relays the good news, "One of your Z-95's just bought you another few ticks. The cruiser won't be leaving just yet."

The last defiant crewer – of this group, at least – drops their blaster to the deck and places their hands on their head in token of surrender; one of the technicians who'd been "volunteered" by Kit steps forward to take custody of the prisoner. On the short-range scopes, Senn sees another cluster of life-forms moving to meet the boarding party; tracking their movement through the Gozanti's corridors. Warned by her report, a few of the quicker techs get shots off as the enemy burst into view, dropping two of them, and Kit accounts for a third. The remaining 7 split their fire, 3 in TIE pilot's gear gunning for the captain, while the others in regular crew jumpsuits trade casualties with the impromptu squad, 4 for 4. Kit takes 3 Damage, and the allied Brute Squad takes 4, reducing it to Strength 6. One enemy Brute Squad remains, with Strength 3. Give me your new approaches for the new round.

Lyra Chalcis Lyra swore and ducked as a fresh firefight broke out around her. She winced as several of her team went down and Kit ate a blaster bolt. With a sigh, she pulled out her medkit and scanner. The medic dodged and weaved her way to Kit's side, "Hold still for a sec, let me check you out!"

Lyra Chalcis Lyra shrugged and turned away from Kit, feeling this was not the time for a long discussion. In Lyra's experience, it was bad for morale for the CO to go down, but if Kit was going to be able to fight on through the pain, that could be kind of inspiring. It was the captain's prerogative, and Lyra left her to it. The medic wasn't going to be doing any flanking, though. That was Ja's job. Once people started getting hurt, Lyra's priorities were clear. Tend to the wounded. Lyra moved back to the engineers and started working on the members of her team who'd been shot, trying to stabilize the dying, and noting for the record who was already too far gone to save. Adjusted Approach: Apply First Aid to allied Brute Squad instead of Kit.
